Do you feel tired easily?
Looking for an energy boost that doesn’t involve caffeine or sugary snacks?
You’re not alone — especially if you’re recovering from cancer treatment or dealing with chronic fatigue.
I created these Energy Bliss Balls for my teaching kitchen program with cancer survivors — they’re delicious, nutrient-dense, and made with whole ingredients that support energy gently and naturally. Plus, they’re super easy to prepare and can be adapted to suit your personal needs.
💤 Common Causes of Low Energy
Understanding the root of fatigue is the first step to managing it. Here are a few common causes of low energy that I often discuss in my classes:
🔸 1. Nutrient Deficiencies
Without the right fuel — like protein, healthy fats, complex carbs, and micronutrients — your body simply can’t produce sustainable energy.
🔸 2. Poor Sleep or Stress
Both mental and physical stress take a toll on your energy. If your body is constantly in "fight or flight" mode, your energy reserves can feel depleted.
🔸 3. Dehydration
Even mild dehydration affects your ability to think clearly and maintain stamina.
🔸 4. Side Effects of Cancer Treatments and Other Chronic Conditions
Chemotherapy, radiation, and medications can impact metabolism, appetite, and energy production — often long after treatment ends.
💡 Simple Ways to Reclaim Your Energy
Instead of reaching for sugar or another coffee, try adding one or two of these supportive practices to your routine:
Snack smart: Pair natural sugars (like dates or fruit) with protein and fat to avoid blood sugar spikes.
Stay hydrated: Aim for water throughout the day — even mild dehydration impacts energy.
Move gently: Low-intensity movement like stretching, walking, or yoga boosts circulation and mood.
Rest when needed: Listen to your body. Rest is part of healing, not a sign of weakness.
Energy Bliss Balls Recipe
A no-bake, naturally sweet snack — ready in minutes
Makes: 12–14 balls
Ingredients
1 cup whole pitted dates
¼ cup warm water (only if needed for blending)
1 cup raw chopped nuts (such as pistachios, walnuts, almonds, cashews)
½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut (optional, for rolling or mixing)
3 tablespoons almond butter (optional, adds healthy fat and flavor)
Optional Add-Ins
To increase protein and fiber, consider adding:
1 scoop protein powder (unsweetened, plant-based or whey)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
Directions
Soften the dates: If your dates are dry or firm, soak them in warm water for 30 minutes to soften. If soft, you can skip this step.
Blend: In a mini food processor or high-speed blender, combine the pitted dates, chopped nuts, and almond butter (if using). Blend until the mixture forms a sticky dough. If it's too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time.
Roll: Wet your hands slightly with water or a touch of ghee (to prevent sticking) and roll the mixture into small balls — you should get about 12–14.
Coat (optional): Roll in shredded coconut for added texture and flavor.
Chill & Store: Place the balls in an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 7 days or freeze for longer shelf life.

Why These Bliss Balls Support Energy Naturally
Dates provide quick-release natural sugars + fiber to avoid crashes.
Nuts offer plant-based protein, healthy fats, and magnesium — essential for energy metabolism.
Almond butter adds creaminess and satiety.
Optional add-ins like flax and chia deliver omega-3s, fiber, and protein to round it out.
They’re easy to grab on the go, require no baking, and are sweetened only with fruit — no refined sugar or processed energy bars here.
💬 Final Thoughts
Fatigue is more than just “being tired” — it’s a message from your body. But with the right nourishment, we can support our energy in ways that are sustainable, gentle, and healing.
